So, what are the best new football kits of 25/26? Let’s pick apart every thread, collar and brave design.

10. Manchester City Away Kit

We start with (arguably) the best Premier League kit of the forthcoming 25/26 season – Manchester City’s new away shirt feels magisterial. Admittedly, we might be swayed by the snazzy photo shoot, but this new sleek jet-black kit with shining silver accents on the badges makes for something fans and magpies alike crave. When facing up against colourfully-clad opponents, it could, indeed, look like men against boys.

But this new kit isn’t just a fashion statement; it’s inspired by the very origins of the Cityzens 145 years ago. Taking notes from their very first kit worn back in 1884, Man City have given the iconic black jersey a modern update, creating an extremely chic item of clothing that’s equally intimidating and à la mode. It’s a delicious kit, but it’s not quite as nice as the next nine jerseys on our list.

9. Lazio Home Kit

From one sky blue team to another, there is something absolutely classic about Lazio’s new home shirt that seems to sing with the same splendour as Andrea Bocelli the longer you stare at it. The gorgeous celeste colour certainly speaks for itself, with Lazio wisely refusing to add a bunch of noise in the form of wacky stripes, polka dots or patterns, remaining a bastion of Italian football in the process.

As you get closer to the recycled polyester material of the shirt (*tick* for sustainability), you’ll notice an embossed geometric pattern, but these aren’t randomly scribbled; they actually reference the design of Campidoglio’s piazza in Rome. So, not only are they touching on their city’s rich history, but they’ve also created the slickest Italian football shirt of the forthcoming season. Show-offs.

8. UD Almería Away Kit

Time to mix things up a little. So far, we’ve celebrated some clean, simple designs, but UD Almería’s latest away kit puts itself in the fashion firing line thanks to its tiled, floral design. But, while some might discard it for looking like a 1970s teatowel, we embrace it and its bold, blue shades and yellow accents, with the sleeves and collar sharing the same colour trim, making for a neat work of art.

Paying tribute to the craftsmanship of Almería, this Segunda División team takes inspiration from the city’s centuries-old tradition of creating ceramic plates from clay. We love a shirt inspired by history (as the previous two entries have demonstrated), and this UD Almería away kit is no different, with generations of culture woven into its very fabric.

7. 1. FSV Mainz 05 Home Kit

We’ve talked about how much we love incorporating a little slice of history into a football shirt, but what about a slither of local topography? This is what FSV Mainz has achieved, creating a bright red kit with a topographic map of Mainz etched into the background, meaning that fans of the Bundesliga team can watch on with the knowledge that their home and community are very much part of the shirt.

Looking a little like the little cousin of Croatia’s International Football Shirt, the latest jersey from Mainz is without a doubt one of the best new football kits for the forthcoming season. Seriously, everything about this shirt just works, from the eye-popping shade of red to the shards of white shapes down the sleeves and even the Kömmerling sponsor. Who would have thought that a company selling uPVC windows could be so stylish?

6. Port Vale Home Kit

Mock Port Vale at your peril, for they are known as one of the very oldest English football clubs. Having been around since 1876, Port Vale is absolutely drenched in football heritage, and their latest kit proudly displays this fact with a glorious 150th anniversary jersey. Classy enough to bring a tear to the eye of any football lover born in the 20th century with a particular disdain for VAR, this new kit harks back to simpler times.

Port Vale’s new kit is certainly simple, going without a sponsor to keep their off-white shirt clean and minimalist, bringing a vintage aesthetic to the modern game. The off-white tone and black trimmings weren’t just plucked from the colour wheel either, it comes inspired by the kit worn by Vale's heroes of 1953/54, who won the Third Division North and boasted a rock solid defence.

5. Celtic Home Kit

Can you believe that in 139 years Celtic have never created a football shirt that has incorporated tartan before? Well, let’s be honest, they should do it a whole lot more often, as their new kit is an absolute beauty. Don’t worry, they haven’t abandoned their iconic green and white hoops, but they have subtly integrated a tartan pattern that’s just enough of a stylistic flourish to make a statement without annoying die-hard traditionalists.

Delighted with his team’s new vibrant kit, men’s club captain Callum McGregor stated, “The Celtic jersey is one of the most iconic in football and our latest edition is another fantastic tribute to the club, honouring our roots and our proud heritage,” and who are we to disagree with the headstrong midfielder? Sleek, stylish and utterly classic, you’ll be seeing a lot of these shirts in Glasgow come rain, sleet or snow.

4. SV Werder Bremen Third Kit

Who in their right mind designed this stunner of a kit? They certainly had no right to make it look like the kind of thing royalty would wear for a quick back garden kickabout. Retaining Werder Bremen’s iconic green colours, this third strip introduces gold accents around the collar crest and sponsors, making a shirt that looks utterly glorious both on the streets and on the pitch.

Oh, and it even has that special slice of history that we love so much at Mystery Football, with the kit harking back to the club's first ever Bundesliga title back in 1965. 60 years after their victory, they’re trying to channel the same passion and ferocity that secured them the Meisterschale in the first place. As German football shirts go, it’s the very best of the forthcoming season.

3. Paris Saint-Germain F.C. Home Kit

If being the champions of Europe wasn’t enough, PSG have just released one of their greatest ever kits. A fashion statement and an assertion of footballing dominance, PSG’s latest home kit is a regal pleasure to cast your eyes over, with their iconic midnight navy shirt and central red stripe experiencing a sprinkling of Parisian romance.

Inspired by the Eiffel Tower, the red stripe contains a subtle geometric lattice that takes reference from the iconic landmark’s zig-zagging structural beams, creating something that’s both traditional and modern in equal measure. It’s not the first time they’ve incorporated the Iron Lady, but this is the first iteration that’s really worked. When it comes to French football shirts, nobody does it with quite as much va-va-voom as PSG.

2. Real Valladolid Away Kit

Will Real Valladolid win La Liga? Probably not, let’s be honest. But, they’ve won something far better than that already, the prize for our pick of the very best Spanish football shirt for the 25/26 season. Reviving the iconic design from their celebrated 1999–2000 La Liga season, this kit is utterly enchanting, with the vertical purple and black stripes tag-teaming to create a shirt that sings elegance.

It’s worth noting that their home shirt is also a severe belter, with the iconic purple stripes being subtly fortified by stylish patterns to create a truly clean kit that the club can really be proud of. But, maybe it’s Kappa who should be really proud, having upped their game year on year to create the most daring and fashionable kits. Whoever deserves the plaudits, someone in or around the Real Valladolid office deserves a raise and a cerveza.

1. Club America Home Kit

We’ve showcased nine of the very best shirts from the forthcoming 25/26 season, but none come close to the absolute peach that is Club America’s latest home shirt. Just as vibrant as Mexican football itself, this shirt gives flight to Las Águilas with its feather-like graphic of black red and blue zig-zags. Once you pair that with the canary yellow, you’ve got a joke of a football kit that is a certified stunner for decades to come.

The new release comes just after they parted ways with Nike, too, having been with the championed sportswear brand for 25 years. Now with Adidas, their new shirt is a direct callback to their beloved 1994–96 kit that’s often dubbed one of the greatest football kits of all time. So, maybe it’s no wonder that this stylish shirt sequel is just as good (if not even better) than its older brother, making it certainly the best Mexican football shirt of the year and perhaps the greatest in the entire world.
