Ahead of the Euros 2024 kicking off on June 14th in Munich, before ending with the final in Berlin on 14th July, many football fans will be choosing their favourite football shirt for the occasion, along with planning their travel routes to the biggest international fixtures of the season.
However, with the average cost of a flight from London to Berlin Brandenburg costing £277.441 in the month of the Euros final (July), is there a cheaper - and more fun - way to get there?
Below, we’ve calculated the average cost of travelling from Wembley Stadium, London to the Olympiastadion, Berlin by comparing the average price of petrol, toll road and channel tunnel train charges, versus the average price of rail tickets, to reveal the cheapest route.
How to Get to the Euros Final by Car
The data revealed that the cheapest way to get to Berlin is by car, costing £59.75 per person in a car of four. This works out as just over £200.00 (£217.69) cheaper than the average flight cost in July and £42.84 cheaper than travelling by rail.
The route travels through four countries, starting at Wembley Stadium before getting the car ferry to Calais before heading onto Bruges, Antwerp, Dortmund and Hanover, arriving at the Olympiastadion, Berlin.
How to Get to the Euros Final by Train
To travel by rail, the best route was revealed as taking the Eurostar from St Pancras to Brussels, then a train onto Amsterdam before taking the final train to Berlin and a bus to the stadium.
With the average cost of rail and bus tickets coming out as £102.59 per person , it still works out as £174.85 cheaper than the average flight cost!
What Are the Best Places for a Pint along the Way?
